Ledesma, Cabaña Argentina and Mitsui sign Memorandum of Understanding
Ledesma and Pacuca-CPS, owner of the trademark Cabaña Argentina have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Japanese company Mitsui to jointly study the possibility of creating strategic synergies and a joint investment in the animal protein businesses, in order to incorporate new technology and expand production capacity and exports.
Pacuca-CPS, a leading company in the production of pork meat, cold cuts and sausages, belong to the Blaquier Family, Ledesma majority shareholder and the largest producer of sugar and paper in Argentina, as well as an important Agriculture and Livestock Producer of grains and cattle.
Mitsui & Co. is one of the most diversified services, investment and trade companies worldwide, and it currently has 136 offices in 66 countries, and total assets amounting to about USD 100 trillion, and profits after taxes amounting to about USD 3,700 million.
The pork industry in Argentina has been growing steadily during the last years, both for domestic consumption and for exports, caused by the new macroeconomic conditions and the opening of new markets.
